Because we had heavy rains last night, we can’t be confident that water quality will be safe for the broad spectrum of public participants in our Community Paddles. Children and elders and those with compromised immune systems might be vulnerable to elevated bacteria counts from combined sewer overflows.

 

To advocate for NYC’s full compliance with Clean Water Act requirements, such as protection of waterways from wastewater pollution, we recommend that you contact your City Council representative and join the SWIM Coalition (http://swimmablenyc.info/) and Riverkeeper (http://www.riverkeeper.org/campaigns/stop-polluters/sewage-contamination/cso/).
